The overall objective of the conference is to establish opportunities for scaling up community health insurance and generate practical ways to reach informal sector families for the proposed national health insurance scheme. 

The specific objectives are:

1. To share experiences of community health financing initiatives and prospects of scaling up community health insurance in Uganda. 
   
   
2. To promote health insurance initiatives in Uganda.
   
   
3. To examine alternative approaches to guide enrolment of the informal sector into the proposed national health insurance scheme.
